MMS visit by FNQLSDI

Last week, members of the consultation team at FNQLSDI (First Nations Quebec Labrador Sustainable Development Institute) visited Listuguj to meet with local First Nation Communities and organizations, aiming to better understand how SDI can collaborate and support consultations on all aspects. They were seeking feedback, questions, and overall challenges from the First Nations communities navigating the consultation process.

This process can be overwhelming to smaller communities that are under pressure to promptly respond to natural resource development consultations on time.

The Sustainable Development Institute provides a wealth of information and resources available to the First Nation Communities free of charge. The MMS currently uses a map layer developed by its geomatics team. It has been an important tool to aid consultations, providing easier map analysis with its existing built-in layers.

MMS appreciates the assistance from FNQLSDI to assist MMS in these important files. We look forward to working with them in the near future.
