Loni Vicaire is a Policy Advisor for the Agnutmatesnu unit at MMS and an advocate for Indigenous rights and treaty education. With a deep-rooted connection to her community, Loni’s journey led her to pursue post-secondary education and gain valuable work experience before returning to her home in Listuguj.

Loni’s passion for promoting Mi’gmaq Treaty and Aboriginal rights led her to assume the role of Nujigina’muet, the Rights and Treaty Educator, within the Communications unit at MMS. Through engaging presentations, Loni played a role in educating the public about these important topics. Currently, she serves as a Policy Advisor, leveraging her research and writing skills to contribute to the work of Agnutmatesnu.

Following the completion of her bachelor’s degree, Loni started a rewarding career with the NS government, where she played a pivotal role in the Treaty Education initiative. Through public events and presentations, Loni passionately worked to promote public awareness of Mi’gmaq issues, reconciliation, and Mi’gmaq culture.

In her personal life, Loni finds joy in spending time with her partner, Jacob, their two children, Orios and Scarlett, and their cat, Belle. They enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, and playing Pokémon Go.
