Frequently Asked Questions on the Quebec Vacation Lot leases

What are vacation lot leases?

Vacation lots are parcels of crown land that the Quebec Governments leases out every year to Quebec citizens for recreational use,

such as setting up a hunting camp, for example.

For many years, the Mi’gmawei Mawiomi have been opposed to the policy used by the Québec Government to authorize the leasing of vacation

lots within the Province of Québec under the authority of the Minister of Natural resources.

Where can we get more info?

What’s happening on June 20th & 22nd at our community consultation sessions in Listuguj and Gesgapegiag?  (Gespeg dates will be set for July)

Quebec is conducting a consultation on its 2018 vacation lot lottery, and has 21 sites identified throughout Gespe’gewa’gi.  During these sessions, we will be gathering Mi’gmaq use and potential use of these sites, so that we can reserve them for exclusive Mi’gmaq use and advise Quebec that this practice is not acceptable to our citizens, as it has not been to our Leadership for some time.

The information presented during each of the sessions will be concerning the lots closest to their community.
