Operations & Finance
At MMS, the Operations and Finance are the backbone of the organization. With attention to detail, we manage financial obligations including fiscal management, payroll and budget allocation in line with the received funding. Our goal is to maintain a smooth operational flow, enabling every unit at the MMS to focus on what they do best.
Finance provides key resource in allocating financial resources to support the organization’s goals, while maintaining funding agreements and fiscal accountability through its annual financial audit.
Executive Finance Committee
The general mandate of the Executive Finance Committee (EFC) of the Mi’gmawei Mawio’mi is to oversee and assure the integrity of all financial transactions, record keeping and reporting of the MM, consistent with approved financial policies and procedures, the funding obligations, and the approved budget of the MM, the MMS, and all components accountable to the Assembly.

About Us
The Mi’gmawei Mawio’mi Secretariat (MMS) is a not-for-profit Rights-based organization founded over twenty-years ago. The MMS is the administrative body that is responsible for fulfilling the visions and direction of the Assembly of the Mi’gmawei Mawio’mi (MM), which is composed of the Chiefs and Councillors of Gesgapegiag, Gespeg, and Listuguj.
On August 4th, 2000, the signing of the Political Accord took place in Listuguj where Leadership, elders and community members gathered to witness the historical event. It was through the vision and leadership of the people that a unified alliance was formed to recognize and protect the unique relations of the Mi’gmaq existence since time immemorial.
Today, Mi’gmawei Mawio’mi continues to fulfill the original mission and purpose through its Gespegewa’gi Management Plan, Federal and Provincial Consultation and Accommodation, Tripartite Negotiations with Quebec and Canada, and various events hosted by Citizen Engagement.
